Hook Viewers On YouTube Videos – Top 5 Successful Ways

Have you ever wasted hours and hours trying to catch a fish
because you didn’t use the right hook or have the correct bait?

If you don’t grab the attention of your viewers within the first 10 seconds of watching your video they’ll move on to the next video. If you’re spending hours creating a video for your target audience then you need to use the right hook. Using the right hook will increase watch time and lead to higher viewer retention rates.

Here are 5 successful ways to hook viewers on your YouTube videos:

1. Anecdote
An anecdote is a little story designed to illustrate a point that you’re trying to make. For example..”Have you ever wasted hours trying to catch a fish because you didn’t use the correct hook or the correct bait?”

You can then transition into your content by saying something like “You’ve got to use the right hook at the beginning of your video in order to grab the attention of your viewers.”

2. Personal Story
Your personal experience immediately draws viewers into the content of your video because they can relate to it as their own experience. For example “when I was 13 years old I almost drowned because I was dragged out to sea by a rip current. I would have died if my Dad hadn’t rescued me.”

3. Ask A Question
It’s been said that “He who asks the questions controls the conversation.” If you ask a provocative or thought provoking question at the beginning of your video it will do two things..It will grab their attention and it will entice them to want to hear more.

For example at the beginning of one of my videos I ask the question….
“MAC or PC Which One Should I Buy?”

4. Make A Bold statement

For example..at the beginning of one of my videos I make the bold statement…
“Did you know that YouTube rewards you for
suggesting more videos to watch?”

5. Startling Fact or Relevant Statistic
Here’s an example …”YouTube receives over 4 billion views every day according to YouTube’s official blog.”

Remember to site a reliable source and make sure that the fact or
statistic relates to your audience.

That’s it!
